Over €100k Back Into Our Local Community Every Year

2 min read 2 min

A community only works well when people back each other up. Phoenix Credit Union is owned entirely by its members, so we do a lot more than just manage accounts. We keep money circulating locally in the places our members actually live.

We put over €100,000 straight into local people, projects, and groups every twelve months. In fact, our contribution last year hit nearly €100,000. That money goes right to the grassroots level to help our neighbourhoods stay strong and connected.

Here is where that funding goes:

  1. Free Money Education

Knowing how to handle money changes things. We run free courses across our area so members can make solid financial calls, whether that means saving up, buying a house, or setting up a business.

For schools: We run financial wellbeing workshops for local students to help them pick up good habits early on.

For older members: We offer step-by-step online banking guides so senior members feel confident using our app and website.

  1. Local Sports and Neighbourhood Events

Local groups need reliable funding to keep their doors open. We partner with local schools, non-profits, and clubs each year to fund activities focused on health, education, and social connection.

We provide annual sponsorship for local youth sports teams.

We help fund local festivals and neighbourhood events.

  1. Direct Charity Support & Staff Fundraising

We also back causes that matter deeply to our members. We combine direct contributions from the credit union with hands-on fundraising events run by our staff team.

Rehabilitation work: We partner regularly with local addiction rehabilitation facilities, including Coolmine TC and the Tolka River Project.

Daily services: We make annual donations to local day-centres and breakfast clubs.

Charities: We support organisations like the Simon Community and the National Children’s Hospital.
